Unfortunately, from there our tale takes a turn for the
worse as the pair was assaulted with storms and more of nature’s curse. Their
way was impeded by harrowing winds and rain whipped at the carriage with the vengeance of tens.
Luckily the terror was quickly past and our two wanderers
were free at last. From then the journey was primarily quiet (our two did their
best to avoid any riots) and completed the next leg in satisfactory time,
struggling only to locate a food venue sublime. Instead they at a man name Denny who told them their next destination was
closer than many. Halfway done, the two carried on, determined to reach the
next point before their strength was all gone.
Drained but pleased they came into town and sighting St.
Louis, her eyes became dewy. The way had felt longer, this second day, and her
muscles were strained in new and curious ways but the fine young hero had
family there. They took in the travelers and gave them fine fare. They greeted
them warmly and housed to tired two, determined to do all they could do.
Translation:
We started the day with a nice continental breakfast and
then hit the road. Day two took Stuart and I through the end of Nebraska, the
southwest corner of Iowa (approx. 3 miles) and into Missouri.
It was another seven-hour trip, taking us to St. Louis to
visit Stu’s uncle, Matt. We were also greeted by his lovely wife Ebba and their
two kids and were treated to a wonderful (and welcome) spaghetti dinner.
The trip was mostly uneventful besides being a little more
tired and the way being much more rainy and populated. All in all however, the
day passed quickly. We finished Good Omens and began a new book Stuart
has read before but which has been on my list for a very long time, Ender’s
Game, so far, it’s excellent and I’ll keep you posted. Tomorrow is the big
one. Ten hours from St. Louis up to Erie, Pennsylvania. As such, I need to get
to bed so I’m ready for it. On that note, ta ta for now!
